Some people, by their nature are high energy while others tend to operate on a lower (activity) frequency. Most people would probably identify as “in-between”. Hybrid strains, being somewhere in the middle may have a role in your cannabis regimen.
Hybrid strains are derived from crossbreeding indica and sativa plants. Since pure indica and sativa strains have distinct characteristics, hybrids combine traits from both. Here are a characteristics of hybrid strains:
- Offer a combination of both indica and sativa effects, providing a more balanced experience.
- Are purposefully bred to have a specific potency, either higher in THC (psychoactive effects) or CBD (medicinal benefits), depending on desired outcomes.
Indica strains often have higher CBD levels and sativas often are higher in THC.
- More complex flavor and aroma profiles as they inherit terpene blends from both indica and sativa strains. Indicas tend to have earthier, muskier scents, while sativas often have sweet, fruity, or spicy aromas. Hybrids, not surprisingly, are somewhere in-between.
- Combine the resilience and ease of growth from indica plants with the yield and size advantages of sativa plants. This often makes hybrids easier to grow in diverse / more challenging conditions.
Most dispensaries have a number of hybrid strains and products to choose from. The indica and sativa strains used to create the blend will have a big influence on the effects that you feel.
