Edibles and other ingestible forms of cannabis are measured and sold based on the number of milligrams of THC that they contain. The most popular forms include gummies, cookies, mints etc. Yet there are a handful of other products sold at dispensaries that are based on milligrams and are even more potent than your basic edible such as tinctures and the ultra-powerful distillate syringes. We’ll delve into those in a future post.
You may wonder….Why would someone benefit from a cannabis edibles game plan? The answer centers around tolerance. Like all forms of cannabis, the more THC you consume the more your body will expect moving forward to achieve the same level of effect. This is particularly true with edibles. Take 25mg. daily for a period of time, then drop back to 20mg. and you may have trouble sleeping or experience some other change in how you feel until you either continue diminishing or go back to your highest level (25mg. in our example).
The most common edibles typically contain 5 or 10 milligrams of THC. Sometimes mints and other candies can be found with 1 or 2.5mg. doses. Some heavy marijuana users may even take 25mg. or more at a time, and higher dose options are also available at certain dispensaries. Most dispensaries also carry THC capsules that are very similar to edibles and come in doses ranging from 10-30 milligrams.
Varying size doses can be helpful in planning your consumption game plan. For instance, some days you may want to begin consuming in the afternoon, while other times you decide to wait until closer to bedtime. If your goal is to keep your total (daily) edibles milligram count consistent, then the options we’ve discussed will be helpful.
