Can Seniors Benefit From A Cannabis Coach?

By the time we become seniors, we think we know a lot about a bunch of different topics. For older stoners who have incorporated cannabis into their lives for many years (or decades), a Cannabis Coach may not be materially beneficial. However, for seniors who are new or newer to using cannabis, some guidance from an “expert” may prove to be very enlightening.

I put the term “expert” in quotes, as it’s a loosely defined term in the cannabis industry. There are a handful of organizations that “certify” folks in cannabis coaching and many colleges and universities are offering courses in all aspects of the burgeoning cannabis industry. It’s an exciting new growth area for many higher ed institutions.

Cannabis coaches vary in terms of their background, level of training and approach. The mindset that most seem to share is a deep love of the cannabis plant and a belief that THC can help people in many aspects of their lives.

Examples of ways that a Cannabis Coach could be impactful include:

  • Answering basic questions about marijuana that you may not feel comfortable discussing with family and friends; even though they may have more experience with cannabis than you do.
  • Selecting the form(s) of cannabis that make the most sense to consume. For some people it’s flower-only, while others enjoy / benefit from edibles, vapes, concentrates, etc.
  • Sharing ideas on how to dose effectively. Their experience can likely help you to figure out just the right amount of THC to consume, yet NOT too much. That’s particularly important when experimenting with products that you ingest like edibles, capsules, concentrates, etc. as the effects tend to be more intense and they last longer.

In future posts, we’ll share more insights on the role that Cannabis Coaches can play in the lives of seniors (older stoners).
