Don’t Be Intimidated Walking Into A Cannabis Dispensary

For many seniors (and older stoners), the notion that in 2023 you can stroll into a cannabis dispensary, casually select from a menu of items and purchase marijuana legally is somewhat astounding and represents a level of progress that many of us never thought we’d see in our lifetimes. It’s a testament as to how significantly laws and attitudes toward cannabis have changed in this country over the past decade or so.

With that said, it can also be a rather intimidating experience for a senior to enter a cannabis dispensary. To begin with, it’s probable that the majority of individuals working there will be younger, often much younger. And while they may be very comfortable conversing about all things cannabis, it can still be awkward / uncomfortable asking questions for some seniors.

Remember that like any other type of retail establishment, cannabis dispensaries are there to serve you, the customer. Also, most companies that operate these stores have extensive training programs in place for the folks that they hire. With seniors being a very significant (and growing) component of the marijuana purchasing community, it makes sense that budtenders today are receiving guidance on how to greet senior visitors warmly and how to  make them feel at ease with the process.

It can be valuable to review a dispensary’s online inventory and potentially place a “pick-up” order of in-stock cannabis products that interest you before you arrive. This by no means prevents you from adding or removing items (from your order) once you get there.

By doing some homework in advance, you’ll likely formulate questions that a budtender should be able to answer for you. Furthermore, an individual in the dispensary may be able to suggest products for you to consider, based on your goals. Don’t be intimidated and learn to enjoy the experience (and smell) of walking into a cannabis dispensary
