Partaking in cannabis concentrates is not as straightforward an activity as puffing on a vape pen or even lighting up a joint. It requires a bit more pre-planning and depending on the device used, more frequent cleaning.
I’ve discussed several of the types of concentrates in a prior post. Once you’ve purchased (or created) your cannabis concentrate, here are a few popular ways to enjoy it:
Dabbing: Sounds a bit overwhelming for us Older Stoners… This is done through a device that looks like a new-fangled bong that’s specifically designed for concentrates. The concentrate is heated and the vapor is inhaled. Dab rigs can get very hot; much hotter than your bic lighter. The resulting hit from a (typically) potent THC concentrate can be extremely powerful.
Vaping: Concentrates can be vaped using a Pax or similar type of device. These dry herb type vapes heat the concentrate to a lower temperature than with dabbing, which typically leads to a less intense high.
Sprinkle on top of Flower: You can sprinkle or place a small amount of concentrate on top of your cannabis flower in a bowl, joint. This can materially increase the potency and flavor of your smoke.
Cannabis concentrates are appealing in part because they are powerful. They’re also interesting because their form factor (butter, shatter, etc.) is quite different from most other cannabis products and what most older stoners are accustomed to enjoying.
