Anyone who has listened to Jimmy Buffett’s music over the years would know that he is the epitome of Hawaiian shirts, good music and a cool drink by the pool. He’s been evangelizing cheeseburgers and margaritas for decades.
Buffett has built a brand around the Margaritaville theme alongside his wildly successful music career. According to Wikipedia: “Of the over 30 albums Jimmy Buffett has released, as of October 2007, eight are Gold albums and nine are Platinum or Multi Platinum”.
What’s become evident is that Jimmy Buffet has a very intimate knowledge of and relationship with his fan base that has enabled him to build a business empire alongside his musical career. He’s developed music clubs, resorts all over the country, Mexico and the Dominican Republic as well as senior oriented real estate communities.Heck, they are even giving away free townhouses on Wheel of Fortune.
Buffet has aged with his fanbase; many of whom are seniors and older stoners.
His new album, entitled “Equal Strain on all Parts”, being released later this year contains an appropriately themed song, “My gummy just kicked in”.
He was interviewed recently by WLNG in Sag Harbor, NY. During the interview, he explains the incredible story of how was sitting down to dinner with Paul McCartney and his wife, and she uttered the phrase “my gummy just kicked in ” after stumbling slightly. That gave him the idea for the song. As the interview explained, Paul liked the song so much that he played on the studio recording. We look forward to hearing the new song once it’s released.
