Seniors: How to Talk to Your Adult Children About Your Cannabis

How many of us had uncomfortable conversations with our parents when they caught us getting high as kids or young adults?

How many of us had tough dialogue with our kids when we caught them using marijuana at an unacceptably “early” age?

How many of us are now in the odd position of having (or choosing) to explain to our (now) grown kids that we are also now enjoying the benefits and enjoyment that can emanate from the cannabis plant.

Talk about what goes around, comes around. How do your views on cannabis today compare to what they were in the scenarios above?

For some of us, our kids grew up in a more cannabis-tolerant environment than we did, as we may not have been thrilled that our kids were getting high, but it didn’t elicit the Refer Madness type of response that our parents may have exhibited with us.

Heck, in many states, you can essentially get a “recommendation / prescription” for cannabis easily and in adult-use states, acquiring cannabis today is as easy as buying alcohol, so it’s a bit incongruous for anyone to fly off the handle.

I’ve witnessed some adult children being thrilled that their parents were now enjoying cannabis and others who were appalled. So, if you are unsure of how to explain or justify to your adult children that you are now 420-friendly, remind them of all the positive aspects of cannabis, that you are able to decide for yourself if it’s appropriate for you and lastly, invite them to enjoy a lab tested joint on a beautiful afternoon.
